Lorina and Alice, the two surviving members of the Liddell family, are to sell their collection of Lewis Carroll treasures; the last of the family heirlooms connected with the beloved story they helped to inspire so many golden afternoons ago--Alice in Wonderland.
While the crowd concerns themselves with Alice, a determined young biographer named Ms. Becker frantically tracks down her intensely private and long- neglected older sister, Lorina. Ms. Becker eventually persuades the reluctant old woman to give an interview, so that she may uncover the man behind the story, the man behind the alias Lewis Carroll--Charles Dodgson.
Through the looking-glass of memory, Lorina explores her family's relationship with Charles and the painful yet fantastical creation of Alice in Wonderland. In a mad collage of fantasies, memories, and dreams, Lorina is ultimately forced to confront the past that she fought her entire life to leave behind.
