A Musical

A real play about a fake musical.

Leah just can’t catch a break. After bombing her audition for her dream show, a reprisal of the famous (fictional!) musical ‘The Dark Glass,’ she and her best friend Jen are about to give up on their dreams. Then they get the call.

Two of the actors in the musical have gotten food poisoning, (just go with it) and now they get to rehearse the show with original cast members Dylan and Patrick.

‘The Dark Glass’ was the surprise hit of 2002 lol. A (fake) musical with a kickass score influenced by Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Bjork, and Artic Monkeys to name a few, it tells a tragic 19th century love story. It is a portrait of a pair of artists–the PreRaphaelite poet-painters Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal.

As they rehearse and argue and create, the line between reality and theatricality blurs, and they are forced to face the truths about their characters and themselves…and the pasts that haunt them still. It is a play about theatre, and those who make it. It’s about unburying the past, and turning our pain into poetry.

“Some words echo forever…”
